Patna, Oct 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Internal differences within the NDA have come into focus ahead of the Bihar Legislative Council elections, with three MLAs of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) backing their party’s state General Secretary, Rampukar Sinha, in the Saran Teachers’ constituency, despite the NDA having officially fielded JD(U) candidate Anand Pushkar from the seat.
The development has sparked discussions within the alliance, particularly over the decision of RLM legislators to support a candidate contesting against the NDA nominee.
RLM chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, speaking to the media in Patna, played down the impact of the differences and asserted that the NDA would emerge victorious in the Legislative Council elections.
Kushwaha said that irrespective of individual decisions or campaign activities, the NDA candidate would win the election.
He remarked that it did not matter who was campaigning where, maintaining that the alliance would register victory.
Commenting on the political activity surrounding the elections, Kushwaha said a kind of intoxication had entered the political atmosphere since the election process began, affecting both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan.
He urged people not to attach too much significance to such developments and reiterated that the NDA candidate would win.
When asked whether disciplinary action would be taken against those supporting a candidate opposed to the official NDA nominee, Kushwaha said he would be able to comment only after obtaining complete information on the matter.
The controversy centres on the Saran Teachers’ constituency, where RLM state General Secretary Rampukar Sinha is contesting against Anand Pushkar, the JD(U) candidate backed by the NDA.
Reports indicate that RLM state President Alok Singh, Madhubani MLA Madhav Anand and Bajpatti MLA Rameshwar Mahto have extended their support to Sinha.
The move is politically significant as RLM is part of the NDA, while its three legislators are supporting a candidate from their own party who is contesting against the alliance’s official nominee.
Sinha’s candidature has therefore brought internal differences within the alliance into sharper focus ahead of the Legislative Council polls.
The latest development has also revived discussion about differences within the RLM.
Reports of disagreements between sections of the party leadership and some of its MLAs have surfaced previously, including in connection with Alok Singh, Madhav Anand and Rameshwar Mahto.
The decision of the three legislators to support Sinha has now added a new dimension to the dispute, with the issue likely to remain under scrutiny as the Legislative Council election campaign progresses.
